Deliberate practice in group supervision
The study: A case illustration of a psychiatrist in psychotherapy training, supervised in a deliberate practice supervision group, based on video recordings of the group and notes on solitary practice.
What they found: The deliberate practice structure involved all group members through flexible skill-building activities. The case suggests it helped the supervisee develop and improved the patient's outcome, while members learned from each other's cases and still got personalized training.
Why it matters for practice: Group supervision can be more than case discussion. Structured rehearsal gives everyone in the room something to practice.
